From the Times Newspaper, another list of where you can get some Free Online games:
1 AddictingGames.com
Thousands of mini-games collected into a dozen categories. Most are graphically simple but fast to load, and there are few intrusive ads to sit through. Pay close attention to ratings given by other players to avoid wasting time on the turkeys.
2 Pogo.com
Play Monopoly, Boggle, bingo and suchlike against real opponents rather than the computer, with the chance of prizes for over-18s. Register and you’ll get access to 100 games free of charge, with fancier versions available to buy and download — though, at about £15 apiece, they’re expensive.
3 Miniclip.com
Claims to be the world’s largest online gaming site, with 450 titles attracting 50m players a month. All are free, subsidised by £20m of advertising revenue a year. The ads never really get in the way of a vast and enjoyable selection of games.
4 Jigzone.com
Jigsaws. Tens of thousands of them, searchable by type of picture and number of pieces. You can play against the clock or against an opponent, and even upload a photo to make your own bespoke puzzle.
5 RuneScape.com
Just one game here, but it’s a sprawling, interactive sword-and-sorcery effort that has about 100,000 people on its servers at any time. The graphics are hardly Xbox standard but there’s plenty of free gameplay, with membership upgrades available from £3.50.
6 bbc.co.uk/cbbc
The website of the BBC channel for six to 12-year-olds is full of unique, show-specific games that offer much greater depth than most of those on the free sites, and with no risk of children encountering bad language (a risk on the unmoderated feedback forums of some sites). Scorpion Island and Raven are both excellent.
7 MyFootballGames.co.uk
Can’t wait for the new season? This site, with more than 100 football-based games, could help: choose from complex virtual leagues or more frivolous ones based on headers.
8 Stickgames.com
Don’t be fooled by the primary-school graphics: Stickman games and their black humour are not for kids. Subversive but addictive.
9 iSkullGames.com
Aimed at teenagers, this has games you’d otherwise have to trawl from a dozen sites. The emphasis is on TV and film franchises, including Transformers and Ben 10.
10 GamesFreak.net
With 32 car parking games and 75 bike games, this simple site is worth checking out if the servers on the big hitters are slow.
